Noble Origins
The brothers Dellorusso express love for their land and its origins through the name of the mill: “Feudo dei Verità”. This choice was inspired by the history of the territory of Mariotto, the birthplace of the brothers Dellorusso, where is located the oil press.
Has been attested that around the year 1000 a famous Aragonese warrior, after distinguishing himself at the service of Sancho III, called “El Mayor”, was at the court of Prince of Salerno Guaimario IV. Vera, the only son of the warrior, had four children: Rinaldo, Mario, Ginelo and Valerio, but only the first two were named Verità, probably to honor one of the virtues of his father.
Depart from this strain the various branches of relationship that lead us to 11/03/1448, the date on which the noble Paolo De Veritade, son of the Judge Jacobo, bought the estate “Orlem seu San Pietro di Casamassima” (now Mariotto); the ownership of the feud will continue up to 25/01/1459.
In this way, the feud finally became a possession of the Gentile, but they kept the name of Mariotto to honor the last feudal overlord.
